Lettered in 1966-67-68-69…Won CCIW individual title in 1966 in 120 high hurdles and as member of mile relay…Won CCIW individual title in 1967 in 440 intermediate hurdles and as member of mile relay…Won CCIW individual title in 1968 as member of mile relay…Won CCIW individual title in 1969 in 440 intermediate hurdles and as member of mile relay…NCAA College Division All-American in 1967 in 440 relay and in 1969 in 440 intermediate hurdles…At one time held school records in the following events: 440 intermediate hurdles (:53.0 in 1969), 440 relay (:41.5 in 1967) and mile relay (3:14.4 in 1969)…He is currently fourth on the all-time list in 400 intermediate hurdles, second with 400 relay and fourth with 1600 relay…Helped team win CCIW team championship in 1967, 1968 & 1969…At one time also held school records in 120 high hurdles (:14.9 in 1969), distance medley (10:15.7 in 1969) and shuttle hurdle relay (:59.7 in 1967)…He held the CCIW record in the 440 intermediate hurdles in 1967 (:55.1) and the mile relay in 1969 (3:19.2)…Lettered in basketball as a freshman and sophomore before injuring a knee…Listed in Outstanding College Athletes of America in 1969…As a freshman he won seven events (high hurdles, intermediate hurdles, 440 relay, long jump, high jump, triple jump and mile relay) in dual meet with Knox…Second leading scorer in conference and regional meets as a freshman…PERSONAL: Married to Debby with one daughter (Kristin) and one son (Craig), all of whom graduated from Augustana…Has one granddaughter…Retired from Rock Island/Milan School District after 33 years as a teacher…Still coaches girls bowling at Rock Island High School…Also coached basketball and track & field…Named "Young Educator of the Year" by the Milan Jaycees…Former president of the Rock Island Education Association and Illinois Girls Bowling Association…Listed in Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America in 1974…JIM BRAET ON HIS AUGUSTANA YEARS: "I received an excellent education and had many great experiences and opportunities.
