FACULTY MENTORS

2026-27 AUGUSTANA FACULTY MENTOR ROSTER

The purpose of the faculty mentor program at Augustana is to support the strategic initiative of the college to further the integration of learning opportunities across campus and, in this case, academics and athletics – as over one-third of our students participate in a varsity sport. Specifically, the program is designed to support student-athletes by providing additional structured support and guidance through the partnering of faculty mentors with individual teams. Our faculty recognizes the importance of encouraging excellence in all facets of a student’s life. Within the framework of the program, faculty mentors and coaches work as partners in assisting their students in all dimensions of the students’ curricular and co-curricular endeavors.

Faculty mentors believe that athletics play an integral role in the mission of our college, and that athletic participation is meaningful and valuable, and meets essential needs in the development of the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Faculty mentors serve as a resource in encouraging and reinforcing the learning that ties both academic and athletic pursuits of the student-athlete.

Faculty mentors serve as academic coaches/advisors who willingly connect with student-athletes to offer counsel and support on academic issues and other issues impacting the student-athlete’s overall success. Faculty mentors are dedicated to the idea of building an integrated approach to education – one that connects academics, athletics, student life and the broader community.
