Jan Jamison was a three sport letter winner at Augustana in the late 1950’s, participating in football, wrestling and track & field. He was an immediate contributor in football and was a regular for four years. As a freshman he won the Dr. F.A. Schiotz Award as the most valuable freshman. He earned team MVP honors for the next three years and he was a three time all-conference selection as a running back. He was also a two time all-conference pick in the defensive secondary. Jamison was the team captain as a senior and was named to the United Press Little All-American team as a fullback in 1959. That same year he was an all-state selection by the Peoria Journal Star newspaper.

When he finished with his football season, Jamison wasted no time and was an integral part of the Augustana wrestling team. He won the College Conference of Illinois championship at 177 pounds in 1957-58 and at 167 pounds in 1958-59.

He finished each school year by participating in the hurdles and the field events for the track & field team.

Jamison stayed active in athletics after graduating from Augustana in 1960. He became a teacher and coach in Rockford, Illinois at Guilford High School where he was a successful mentor in football and wrestling.
