Augustana College Athletics

Emerson "Butch" Miller, a 1936 graduate, was one of the Viking’s all-time great playmaking guards.  He spent his four years as the varsity guard in basketball for Augustana.  Over those four years, he led Augustana to 47 wins and 23 losses. 

Miller was named to several All-Star teams during his stay at Augie.  In 1935-36 he led the Viking’s to a 21-3 record, the best in the school’s history to that point.  That year Augustana also earned its first post-season invitation ever, being selected to play in the Olympic trials.  The former standout basketball guard is welcomed into the Tribe of Vikings’ Hall of Honor.
