PLYMOUTH, Wis. - After suffering a loss on Saturday, Augustana College women's soccer (2-1-2, 0-0-0) sought to bounce back on Sunday with a visit to Lakeland (1-4-0, 0-0-0). The Vikings were able to do just that, holding the Muskies scoreless on their way to a 1-0 win.
Inside the Box Score
- Mary Baker scored the lone goal in the game as she played all 90 minutes of action.
- Jordyn Swanson had the helper on Baker's goal.
- Augie's defense was outstanding, holding Lakeland to zero shots on goal and just two shots overall.
How it Happened
First Half
Augustana's offense got to work first, with both Jordyn and Skylar Swanson putting a shot on goal in the opening 10:19 of the game. Unfortunately for the Vikings, both shots were saved. Augie's next two shots missed the frame, but Jordyn Swanson's second shot on goal at 35:45 broke through and gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead over Lakeland.
Baker, who assisted Jordyn Swanson's goal, attempted to grab one for herself at 41:24, but missed the net high. This was the final shot attempt of the opening 45 minutes as the Vikings took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Second Half
Out of the break, Augie put up another pair of shots, with Kristen Getz's attempt at 51:11 being saved by the Lakeland keeper. Eight minutes later, the Muskies mustered up their first shot of the match, but it sailed wide left. A trio of shots then came for Augustana starting at 64:09, with one from Baker having to be saved. Less than two minutes later, Ava Brockell saw her shot attempt saved as well.
The Vikings managed another three shot attempts in the remainder of play, but none found the back of the net and Lakeland got a second shot off as well. However, one goal was all Augie needed as they clinched a 1-0 win once the clock struck 0:00.

For the first time in over two weeks, women's soccer now prepares for a home match. On Wednesday, Sept. 16, they play host to Dubuque at 7 p.m.
