ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Playing in their first home game since September 1, Augustana College women's soccer (2-2-2, 0-0-0) welcomed Dubuque (2-2-2, 0-0-0) to Thorson-Lucken Field on Wednesday evening. Less than seven minutes away from a scoreless tie, Dubuque scored to ultimately sink the Vikings, 1-0.

How it Happened
First Half
The visitors from Dubuque got to work quickly, putting up five shots in the opening 10 minutes. Schinker was able to stop two of them, but one shot was inches away from beating her had it not banged off the crossbar. Following one more shot from Dubuque, Augie's offense picked up the momentum. At 14:36, Skylar Swanson had her shot saved. That rebound landed at Avery Parker's feet, but her shot on the open goal was saved by a Dubuque defender.
After the flurry of attempts from the Vikings, Mary Baker had a shot attempt saved as well. Dubuque's offense got to work again, firing six shots in just 13 minutes of game time, but only one of those actually reached the goal and Schinker made the stop.
That saved shot was the last attempt on the goal by either team before the first 45 minutes ran out, sending the teams to the locker rooms tied 0-0.
Second Half
The opening minutes of the second half were just as eventful. A Dubuque player drew the game's only yellow at 49:12, but that foul was quickly followed by a Dubuque shot Schinker had to make the save on. Both teams saw their next shots sail out top right.
Augie was able to challenge the Dubuque keeper at 75:28 but to no avail. Schinker then made another save at 80:02, but just a few minutes later, Dubuque broke the tie, scoring off a free kick.
Augustana had no response for the late goal in the final six minutes of action, leading to the 1-0 loss.
Up Next
The Vikings are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19, with a home match against Nebraska Wesleyan at 1 p.m. It will also be Senior Day for the Vikings, with the senior recognition taking place prior to the match.
