MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team defeated the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves by a final score of 1-0.
The first half was a defensive battle, with both teams collecting four shot attempts.
Skylar Swanson fired the first shot after three minutes of play, and
Ximena Osorio-Rodriguez notched an attempt six minutes later. The Vikings didn't see another chance until 36:29 when Swanson shot out top, and
Allison Gibeau followed with a shot on goal to close the half in a 0-0 deadlock.
Returning from the halftime break, the Vikings outshot Nebraska Wesleyan 8-1. Swanson and Osorio-Rodriguez found shots on goal within the first 10 minutes of play.
Aniela Ehrlicher and
Alyssa Mowry notched shots on goal before Swanon found the back of the net at 70:34. S. Swanson and
Jordyn Swanson collected shots on goal, but the game concluded with a 1-0 score.
Seven different athletes attempted shots in the win, with S. Swanson leading with five.
Sara Schinker fended off four shots in her 90 minutes in goal.
