DECATUR, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings baseball team dropped the third game of the weekend series to Millikin on Sunday by a score of 11-3.
Millikin scored first in the bottom of the second and both teams put up goose eggs until the fifth inning when Augie evened the score at 1-1. Ryan Coon and Kaileb Hackman singled to the outfield before Charlie Bergin singled up the middle with two outs to score Coon. The Big Blue followed with four runs in the bottom of the inning and another in the sixth to stretch the margin to 6-1.
Colton Davis started the seventh inning with a double to left center before advancing to third on a wild pitch. Riley Hendren followed with a two-run home run to left field to create a 6-3 gap. The Big Blue put up five in the eighth inning to conclude the game with an 11-3 final score.
Augie collected nine hits, with Hendren and Bergin leading with two.
With the loss, the Vikings move to 11-10 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. The Vikings will be back in action on Tuesday, April 8 at Wheaton.
