ROCK ISLAND -- The No. 10 ranked Augustana Vikings women's water polo team took down the No. 5 ranked and top-seeded Austin 'Roos on Saturday by a score of 10-5 to advance to their fourth straight CWPA title game.

After the visitors notched the first score of the game 25 seconds in, the Vikings responded with three goals in a row, seeing tallies from Alayna Ickert, Charlotte Newport, and Ocean Akau. Austin earned one back with a second remaining to make it a 3-2 lead in favor of Augie after eight minutes of action. The two teams traded goals to begin the second, but the last two points belonged to the Vikings after Annie Opal Dickson and Jersey Merrick found the back of the net. Augustana led 6-3 at intermission. 

A scoreless third period ensued before the two teams combined for six goals in the fourth. Dickson notched the first two of the frame for the Vikings to keep the team out in front by four around the halfway point. Waiahuli Akau and Newport accounted for the final two strikes for Augie to build a lead as large as six before the 'Roos collected the final score of the game to complete the 10-5 final.

Austin posted 11 more shots than Augustana in the game, but the Vikings connected on 10 of their 18 looks for a percentage of .556. Lizzie Pelzman had saves in net to lead a stout Augie defense.

The Vikings will square off with No. 9 and third-seeded Washington & Jefferson tomorrow afternoon in the championship contest.
