MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- The Augustana Vikings fell to the Berry Vikings on Wednesday by a score of 17-1.
In the opening quarter, Berry scored seven goals and followed with seven more in the second quarter while holding Augie scoreless. Both teams showed a defensive battle in the third quarter with only one goal allowed by the hosting team to make a 15-0 game entering the final 15 minutes of play.
In the fourth quarter, Berry tallied another before Elena Bechard notched the lone goal for Augie off of a pass from Becca Lacina. Berry followed with a goal two minutes later to conclude the game with a 17-1 final score.
As a team, Augie had five shots on goal with Madison Langewisch leading with two. Rachel Wylie caused two turnovers, while Dylon Karjalahti saved six shots and Lanie Cecala retained three attempts in their 30 minutes in goal.
With the loss, Augie move to 6-4 on the season and will return to action on April 9 at Thorson-Lucken Field for their conference opener.
