Women's soccer taken down by North Central

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team fell 5-0 to the North Central Cardinals on Wednesday evening at Thorson-Lucken Field.

North Central struck first in the 28th minute and quickly added three more goals in the closing stages of the first half to carry a 4-0 lead into the break. The Cardinals tacked on a final tally early in the second half to secure the road victory.

Despite the scoreline, Augustana goalkeeper Sara Schinker turned in a strong effort, finishing with nine saves while facing 31 total shots. The Vikings also recorded three corner kicks on the night, generating chances in both halves, but were unable to convert.

Defensively, Corinna Barkley and Jordyn Swanson each logged a full 90 minutes on the back line, while Morgan Wulk added 85 minutes of action. Offensively, Alyssa Mowry and Skylar Swanson led the push through the midfield, with contributions from Ximena Osorio-Rodriguez and Caelan Cole up top.

With the loss, Augustana moves to 3-7-2 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Vikings return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, at home versus Wheaton.
