ROCK ISLAND -- Liesl Whitener scored the first four goals of the game on Wednesday to help lead the Augustana women's soccer team to its fourth straight victory, defeating the Monmouth Fighting Scots by a score of 6-0 from Thorson-Lucken Field.

It did not take long for Whitener and the Vikings to get on the board as a goal 17 seconds in gave the home team a 1-0 advantage. Two minutes later, Whitener took a pass from Abby DeGustino and sent it into the back of the net to double the margin to two. The scoring onslaught continued 10 minutes later with another Whitener goal to make it 3-0, this time crediting the assist to Carson Kekelik. One more unassisted tally from Whitener in the 20th minute extended the Augie lead out to 4-0 heading into the halftime break. The Vikings out-shot the Scots 14-0 in the opening 45 minutes.

Nearly a half hour of scoreless play went by to begin the second half until the Vikings contributed another point to their total on a goal from Alyssa Mowry. Six minutes later, Mowry notched her second of the game and third of the season to make it a 6-0 differential. Mary Baker secured assists on both of Mowry's goals, while Kendall Filanowicz also was credited with an assist on the second strike. Augustana finished the game with a plus-20 margin in shots at 24-4, half of which were on target.

Mary Pietras notched two saves in net, while Abigail Gavlin added thee shots off the bench.

With the win, Augie moves its win streak to four and unbeaten streak to six. The team will be back in action Saturday at home vs. Cornell.
