NAPERVILLE, Ill. --  The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team fell to the North Central Cardinals on Saturday to begin the CCIW schedule.

Madison Langewisch kicked off the game with the first goal at 14:07 to obtain the early lead for the Vikings and added another nearly four minutes later from Kendall Phelan to move the advantage out to 2-0. North Central followed with one of their own 56 seconds later before Elena Bechard secured her first goal of the day on a pass from Narita Lambert. The Cardinals closed the first period with two more to make a tied game at 3-3. In the second period, North Central added seven while holding Augie scoreless and took a 10-3 lead into halftime.

Returning from the break, the Cardinals grabbed two more before back-to-back scores from Augie, starting with Kyla Painter in a woman-up position before Langewisch snatched another woman-up position tally. North Central earned another to close out the third and make a score of 13-5. In the final 15 minutes of action, the Cardinals outscored Augie 5-4. Lambert and Painter secured the first two of the final frame for Augie prior to goals by Anna Erickson and Bechard. 

Langewisch led the Vikings with three goals, while Bechard and Painter followed with two. Rachel Wylie had five ground balls, while Lambert caused three turnovers.

With the loss, Augie moves to 1-7 on the season and 0-1 in the CCIW. The Vikings will be back in action on Wednesday, April 10 to host Elmhurst.
