NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings baseball team dropped the third game of the season series to the North Central Cardinals on Sunday by a score of 13-3.
The Cardinals started the game with six runs in the bottom of the first and added another in the second inning. The Vikings got on the board in the top of the third due to an error by North Central that allowed Charlie Bergin to score.Â
Both teams remained scoreless until Augie tallied two more in the sixth. Ethan Sosnowski was first to cross home plate in the inning after he homered to left-center field before Colton Davis scored off an error by the Cardinals. North Central followed with four runs in the bottom half of the sixth and tallied one more in the seventh and eighth innings to win by run rule.
Sosnowski, Davis, and Daniel Mosele each had one hit on the day.
With the loss, Augie moves to 18-13 on the season and 5-8 in conference play. The Vikings will be back in action on Tuesday, April 23 to battle Millikin for the second time this season.
