ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team was defeated at home on Saturday, falling to the visiting Carroll Pioneers by a score of 1-0.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie through 45 minutes of action, with Carroll holding an 11-3 shot advantage in the opening half. The Vikings saw all three of their attempts come within a 10-minute span early on as Liesl Whitener fired away two and Caelan Cole had the other. Sara Schinker stopped eight of the Pioneers' 11 shots in the first half to help keep Augie deadlocked at 0-0.

In the second, Carroll finally broke the tie with a tally in the 64th minute. The Vikings' defense continued to hold strong and kept Carroll at just the one goal despite an 11-1 shot disparity, but could not find the back of the net as 1-0 score remained intact through the end. Cole had the lone look at the goal in the second for Augie, but it ended up saved.

Schinker finisher her afternoon with 12 saves for the second consecutive outing.

With the loss, the Vikings fall to 7-2-2 on the season and 1-1 in CCIW play. The team will be back in action Wednesday at No. 24 North Central.
