WHEATON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team fell to the Wheaton Thunder on Saturday by a score of 2-0. 

The Thunder were first to get on the board after nearly 11 minutes of action before notching another goal 11 minutes later to take an early 2-0 advantage. Both teams attempted seven shots in the first half, with two from Gonzalo Alberola and Toby Dottin and one each by Ben Statz, Ismail Bennani, and Fer Cuahquentzi.

Returning to the field, the Vikings had a strong showing on defense, fending off 10 shots to keep the Thunder at just the two goals. On Augie's offensive side, Dottin, Alberola, and Rayane Haidi each collected shots in the final 45 minutes. Both teams remained scoreless in the half to allow Wheaton to secure the 2-0 win.

Benjamin Samuelson collected two saves in his 90 minutes in goal.

With the loss, Augie moves to 4-4-1 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. The Vikings will remain on the road for a mid-week conference battle against Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday, October 16.
