ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with the Carthage Firebirds on Saturday to move their unbeaten streak to nine games.

Each team saw their fair share of shot attempts in the opening half, with the Vikings holding a 7-5 advantage in that category through 45 minutes of action. Each team sent one of their attempts on target and were both saved to keep the game at its 0-0 tie.

In the second, the shot attempts for the visitors increased as the Firebirds held an 11-3 margin in shots to close out the game. All three of the Vikings' attempt in the second half were on the mark, but neither team could find the back of the net. Augie faced seven shot attempts in the final 30 minutes, including four in the final 10. Janey Castoe earned the shutout for Augustana after saving seven sent her way.

Giorgia Felicita and Jayde Speight led the team with three shots apiece. 

With the draw, Augustana's record sits at 8-1-2 on the season. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 4 at home vs. Illinois Wesleyan.
