CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team was defeated on the road Tuesday night, falling to the Coe Kohawks by a final score of 3-0.
Coe took the lead 10 minutes into this and kept the pressure on the Vikings, out-shooting Augie 11-1 in the first half. Augustana fended off multiple scoring chances from the home team throughout the first 45 minutes, but the Kohawks successfully connected on one more score right before the break, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Vikings saw more offensive opportunities in the second half, posting three shot attempts, but could not get any to hit the back of the net. Coe added one more tally in the 71st minute to complete the 3-0 victory.
Four different Vikings tallied a shot in the contest, with
Ethan Wheeler registering the lone strike on target.
Frankie Baio notched six saves in net.
With the loss, Augie moves to 0-6-2 on the season. The team will resume CCIW play on Saturday, September 30 at home versus Carthage.
