ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team earned their second consecutive draw on Saturday, finishing in a 0-0 tie with the Fontbonne Griffins at Thorson-Lucken Field. 

The Augie defense stood strong in the opening half after facing seven shots from the Griffins to their two. Vikings goalkeeper Ignacio Alberola made all four of his saves in the game in the opening 45 minutes to keep the visitors off the board. Ismail Bennani and Jack Bohm fired the two attempts for Augustana, but neither were on target.

The script flipped in the second half, with the Vikings putting the pressure on the Griffins with 10 shots in the frame. The team saw multiple opportunities to break the deadlock, firing away four of their 10 attempts on target. Augie controlled the ball for most of the final 45 minutes, preventing Fontbonne from getting many looks on their end as they held them to just four shots in the second half. Neither could find the back of the net as the Vikings saw their second scoreless tie in a row.

Bennani led the team with a game-high three shots, while Jarrett Baumgartner and Rayane Haidi also added two.

With the result, Augustana is now 0-4-2 on the season. The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 23 when they open CCIW play at No. 25 ranked North Park.
