BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team fell on the road on Saturaday, defeated by the Illinois Wesleyan Titans by a final score of 22-4.
The first seven goals of the game belonged to the home team, all coming in the opening quarter.
Jack Olson stopped the scoring burst with a goal with 28 seconds left in the first, but was met by one final tally from the Titans with four seconds to spare to make it 8-1 after 15 minutes of action. Illinois Wesleyan extended their advantage with a 4-1 margin in the second, bringing the score to 12-2 at the break.
Brady Holtz notched the second score of the day for Augie with 3:51 to go in the first half.
Illinois Wesleyan out-scored Augustana 5-1 in both of the final two quarters to lock up the game by a final of 22-4.
Paul Huber secured a goal in the third before Holtz notched his second of the game in the fourth. Huber finished the contest with a team-high four caused turnovers.
With the loss, the Vikings drop to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the CCIW. The team will visit MSOE on Thursday, April 13 in a rescheduled non-conference matchup. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m. from Milwaukee, Wis.
