ELMHURST, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team was defeated in their CCIW opener on Wednesday, falling to the Elmhurst Bluejays by a score of 18-4.

The Bluejays grabbed a quick advantage, scoring a goal 14 seconds into the contest on their way to eight first-quarter goals. Elmhurst nearly mirrored their opening-period effort, tallying seven more in the second to push their halftime lead out to 15-2. Jack Connolly got the Vikings on the board at the 5:03 mark before Jake Moore notched an unassisted goal before the break.

Connolly tallied his second score of the game in the third before Brady Holtz grabbed the fourth and final goal for Augie in the fourth. Elmhurst added two scores in the third and one in the fourth to complete the 18-4 win.

Augustana drops to 5-5 on the season and 0-1 in the CCIW with the loss. The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 8 at Illinois Wesleyan. Start time is scheduled for 12 p.m. from Bloomington, Ill.
