ROCK ISLAND – The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team fell to the No. 16 ranked Chicago Maroons by a 23-0 score on Wednesday.
The Maroons got off to a fast start, netting their first of nine goals in the opening quarter at 14:15. Chicago tacked on five more scores in the second to extend their lead to 14-0 at the break. Out of the half, the Maroons continued to distance themselves, netting four in the third period before sending in five more strikes in the final frame to put the game at its 23-0 final.
Madison Langewisch recorded all three shots for Augustana in the game, two on goal. In her 60 minutes in goal, Rachel Forman secured 16 saves.
The Vikings move to 5-6 with the loss, 0-3 in conference. The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 22 for Senior Day at home against North Central. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Thorson-Lucken Field.
