NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team fell to the first-place North Central Cardinals on Wednesday, defeated by a score of 8-0 to wrap up the regular season.
The Cardinals sent in their first and only goal of the opening half in the 12th minute and took the 1-0 lead into halftime after the Vikings fended off 18 shot attempts, more than half of which were on target. North Central pulled away in the second half with their second score in the 59th minute before registering an additional six goals to complete the win.
Janey Castoe had three saves in 23 minutes of action, while
Kierstyn Rogers collected 10.
The Vikings close out the regular season with a 10-4-4 overall record and have earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CCIW Tournament. Augie will host Millikin on Saturday, October 28 at 1 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
