GRINNELL, Iowa – The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team was defeated on the road Saturday, falling to the Grinnell Pioneers by a score of 3-0.

The Pioneers got on the board in the fifth minute and rode the 1-0 lead all the way into halftime. The Vikings defense fended off six shots in the first half, attempting five of their own. The Vikings saw openings on offense through 45 minutes of action, with shots by Jarrett Baumgartner, Jimmie Kucaba and two by Patrick Mayer.

In the second, the Pioneers had the upper hand in shots at 3-2, with both strikes from the Vikings on goal by George Rucker and Ethan Wheeler. Less than 10 minutes left in the second half, Grinnell scored twice more to bring the final score to 3-0. 

Benjamin Samuelson saved six shots in net for Augie. 

The Vikings will be back in action Wednesday at Wheaton.
