APPLETON, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team dropped a non-conference road contest on Saturday, falling to the Lawrence Vikings by a score of 1-0.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes, entering halftime with a scoreless tie. Augie doubled up Lawrence in shots in the first half 4-2, seeing half of their four on target.
The 0-0 score held all the way up until the 82nd minute, when the home team sent one in for the first and only goal of the game. Augustana out-shot their Viking counterpart 7-3 in the second and had a plus-six margin in that category, but narrowly missed on a few scoring chances in front of the Lawrence net.
Kayla Garcia had four shots to lead Augie.
Liesl Whitener tallied three.
Augustana drops to 4-3 overall with the loss. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, September 20 when they visit the UW-Platteville Pioneers. Start time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. from Platteville, Wis.
