ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team was defeated by the visiting Trine Thunder on Saturday, falling by a score of 4-0 on Senior Day.
Trine scored their first goal less than three minutes into the contest and eventually punched in two more to take a 3-0 advantage into halftime. Starting goalkeeper for the Vikings
Janey Castoe tallied eight saves in the opening 45 minutes as the Augie defense endured 17 total shots from the Thunder in just the first half.
Augie executed better offensive pressure in the second half, but mustered just one shot, their only of the afternoon. The defense limited Trine to just seven shots, allowing one more score in the 80th minute.
Mia Ruggiero tallied the lone shot attempt for the Vikings.
With the loss, Augustana drops to 2-2 overall. The team will be back in action on Sunday, September 11 at home against Monmouth. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
