ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse was defeated in a home CCIW contest on Saturday, falling to the No. 21 ranked Chicago Maroons by a score of 25-1 from Thorson-Lucken Field.
The Maroons jumped out to the early lead at the 12:25 mark on their way to nine first-quarter goals and a 16-0 halftime lead. Another big quarter from the road team added another six at the end of three to bring a 22-0 advantage into the final frame.
Augustana got on the board for their first and only goal of the game at the 12:23 mark of the fourth quarter, seeing one go into the back of the net from
Cassidy Petrie. Chicago pushed through three more scores to cruise to the 25-1 win.
Hannah Collins had six saves in net for the Vikings. Petrie and
Kyla Painter led the way with two shots apiece.
With the loss, Augustana drops to 4-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 23 for Senior Day at home against Carthage. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
