WAUKESHA, Wis. – Augustana men's lacrosse improved their records to 9-4 overall and 2-2 in CCIW action with a dominant 22-3 win at Carroll (1-7, 0-3) this afternoon. The Vikings' ninth win is their most in a single season since they finished 11-7 in 2-16.
The Vikings rode an early explosion to victory. Augustana put up seven first period goals from four different scorers and another eight goals in the second period including three other Vikings. The Pioneers managed their only goal of the first half when Joe Harrison delivered with just under four minutes in the half.
The Vikings took a step back in the second half but still dominated the stat sheet with four more goals in the third quarter and three in the final period. Carroll scored their final two goals of the day in the second half, but never remotely threatened the Vikings.
Sam Shaver racked up five goals in the game to lead all players.
John Calabrese,
Jack Connolly, and
Brady Holtz each recorded a hat trick while
Matteo Uccelli,
Bob Robertson, and
Elijah Graesser all netted two goals each.
Matt Pierson led all defensively players with six caused turnovers followed by
Paul Huber with four. Calabrese also scooped up 14 ground balls.
Three Vikings saw time in net including starter
Cameron Duffy and reserves
Erik Singdahlsen and
Gus Magnusson. Duffy picked up the win while Magnusson led the trio with three saves.
Augie will return home on Saturday, Apr. 23 for a bout against Elmhurst on Senior Day.
