NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team was defeated on the road Wednesday night, falling to the North Central Cardinals on the road by a score of 15-4.
A big first quarter saw the Cardinals with a six-point advantage after 15 minutes of action.
Claire Kim connected on the lone score for the Vikings in the opening period. Following Kim's score, North Central responded with eight consecutive scores to end the first and begin the second.
Kate Hettiger stopped the scoring run with a goal at the 5:51 mark in the second, but one more from the Cardinals made it a 12-2 game heading into halftime.
The scoring slowed down in the second half, with each team tallying a goal in the third quarter. Augustana saw their first two goals of the half come from
Cassidy Petrie, followed by one in the final frame from
Kate Hettiger. The Cardinals added two more in the fourth to close things out with the 15-4 win.
With the loss, Augie drops to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in CCIW action. The team will return home to face the No. 21 ranked Chicago Maroons on Saturday, April 16. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Thorson-Lucken Field.
