WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Viking baseball (14-3) capped off the RussMatt Invitational with their eighth-consecutive game earlier Saturday. Augustana came back from an early deficit to take down St. Olaf in a late addition to the schedule.
 
The Oles scored the first run of the ball game in the second inning when Brian Nevin singled Andrew Nomoto home. St. Olaf's run in the second was the only score for several innings as both teams were held scoreless until the sixth.
 
Finally, Augustana fought back in the sixth stanza with a Chase Maifield RBI single to bring Kyle Campbell home and tie the game 1-1. An inning later, Jacob Barker came through and delivered an RBI single of his own to bring Alec McGinnis home.
 
The Viking defense held St. Olaf at bay until the top half of the eighth inning when Campbell's sacrifice bunt allowed Matt Ozanic to scamper home and score what was eventually the game-winning run.
 
Barker and Ozanic led the Viking charge at the plate with two hits each.
 
On the mound, Josh Wintroub started and pitched seven full innings in a winning effort for Augie. Wintroub struck out nine Oles while walking just two and allowing only three hits and one run. Bryce Luckey earned his second save of the year with three strikeouts and two innings of relief pitching.
 
The Vikings will begin CCIW play when they take the field next weekend. Augustana starts league action on the road with a trio of contests are Carroll on Saturday, Apr. 2 and Sunday, Apr. 3.
