HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team was defeated on day one of their spring break trip in South Carolina, falling to the George Fox Bruins by a score of 7-2.

The Vikings salvaged one of three doubles matches to begin the contest as Lily Schoeck and Caitlyn Hanulikova grabbed a win at the No. 1 position by a score of 8-6. The Bruins earned victories at No. 2 and No. 3, winning those matches with finals of 8-4 ad 8-0.

Schoeck continued her success on the day with a win at No. 1 singles, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-2 to give Augie another team point, but George Fox tallied wins in all of the other five matches to complete the 7-2 triumph. 

"Overall, it was great to be back on the court and adjust to playing outside," said head coach David DeSimone. "We have some areas to improve, but this was a great start."

The Vikings fall to 5-10 with the loss and will take on Union tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. CST.
