RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team was defeated on Saturday in a non-conference road contest, falling to the Concordia-Chicago Cougars by a score of 13-3.
It was all Cougars in the first half, scoring seven of their 11 goals in just the second quarter alone. After two scores from CUC to begin the game,
Claire Kim got the Vikings on the board with a goal four minutes in to make it a one-point contest. The home team went on to score the final nine goals of the half to take an 11-1 advantage into the break.
Kate Hettiger scored the first goal of the second half to inch Augie closer, but the Cougars notched one of their one in the third quarter to bring it to an even score in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Both teams went on to add one more apiece in the fourth to bring the final to 13-3 in favor of Concordia-Chicago. Hettiger finished the game with two goals after tallying another in the final period.
With the loss, Augustana drops to 1-3 overall. The team will remain on the road for their next contest on Tuesday, March 22 when they take on Augsburg. Start time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. from Minneapolis, Minn.
