WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team earned a draw with the Carroll Pioneers on Saturday, ending the game in a scoreless tie in their final regular-season road game of the season.
The two teams saw even opportunities on offense in the opening half, with the Vikings putting up three shots to the Pioneers' four. Each team tallied two of their shots on target in the first 45 minutes of action.
In the second half, both teams saw near goals, beginning with a penalty kick opportunity for the Pioneers ten minutes in. Augie keeper
Janey Castoe made a save on a shot down the middle to keep the game tied and scoreless. Carroll continued on with their pressure, eventually boasting a 9-4 advantage in shots in just the second half . With less minutes remaining, the Vikings flipped the pressure in their favor, nearly connecting on two goals in the final minutes. Time ran out with neither squad pushing one into the net.
The Pioneers out-shot the Vikings 13-7 in the game, with seven of their attempts on target, resulting in seven saves for Castoe.
Kayla Garcia had a team-high five shots, three on goal.
With the result, Augustana now sits at 9-5-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the CCIW, stretching their unbeaten streak to four games. It also clinches Augie a spot in the upcoming conference tournament. The Vikings will return home on Wednesday, October 26 to host No. 19 North Central in their regular-season finale. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Thorson-Lucken Field.
