NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Augustana women's soccer (5-5, 2-2) dropped back to the .500 mark, both overall and in CCIW play, after a 2-1 defeat at North Central tonight.
The Vikings struck first with a
Kayla Garcia goal in the 26
th-minute.
Lexi Dominguez assisted Garcia to take the first lead of the game.
Augie maintained their slim advantage into and through the halftime break. Then, once halftime ended, the Cardinals did their damage.
Olivia Hurt netted an unassisted goal in the 74
th-minute to knot the score at one apiece. Minutes later, in the 83
rd, Katie Huey delivered what would become the game-winning goal.
NCC not only outscored Augie 2-1, but also outshot the Vikings 11-7 overall, and 7-5 in attempts that were on target.
Garcia also led the team in total shots with four, while three were on goal.
Liesl Whitener and
Anna Bross were the only other players to attempt shots for Augustana.
In goal,
Janey Castoe made four saves on the night.
Augustana will travel to Carthage for their next opportunity on the pitch. The Firebirds will host the Vikings this Saturday, Oct. 9.
