WHITEWATER, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team fell in a non-conference road game Saturday night, defeated by the UW-Whitewater Warhawks by a score of 8-0.
The game stayed scoreless for the first 20 minutes until the Warhawks saw their first of four first-half goals in the 21st minute. This began a stretch of three goals over the course of the next five minutes, eventually pushing across one more right before half for the four-goal lead at the halftime break.
Whitewater added four more goals on 13 second half shots to end the outing with the 8-0 victory.
All three of Augustana's shots in the game came in the first half, with two of those on target.
Sebastian Gabrielson had two, while
Hannes Hemgren had the other attempt.
Frankie Baio and
Benjamin Samuelson split time in net for the Vikings and combined for five saves.
With the loss, Augie falls to 4-10 on the season. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 27 when they host a rescheduled CCIW contest against the Carroll Pioneers. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Thorson-Lucken Field.
