ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana women's soccer (5-4, 2-1) moved above the .500 mark in conference play this afternoon following a 2-0 victory over the Millikin Big Blue (5-5, 0-2).
The Vikings scored a pair of goals in Saturday's contest, with one coming in each half. Both teams traded attacks in the first half but took some time to settle into what became a physical match. In the 38

Savanna Birkey drew a hard foul just inside the box from Millikin's Katie Bearden.
Madison Brusven capitalized on the penalty opportunity with the game's first score.
Augustana held onto their slim advantage into the half, and for most of the second period. The physical play continued as the game did, but the Vikings battled and eventually widened the gap. In the 84

Anna Bross, who then fired a strike into the back of the net.
Augie led the Big Blue in both shots categories also with 13 total and eight on goal compared to Millikin's six and three.
Janey Castoe played a phenomenal game in goal for the Vikings with three saves and a shutout while playing all 90 minutes.
Augustana will seek continued success as they travel to North Central for their next contest. That CCIW match will take place Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7:00 P.M. in Naperville, Ill.
