Tuesday at Thorson-Lucken Field.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Adetayo Adefioye's goal in the 85th minute lifted Knox to a 2-1 victory over Augustana Tuesday night at Thorson-Lucken Field. The Prairie Fire improved to 5-2-2 on the year, while the Vikings had a two-match winning streak snapped and fell to 2-3-1.

It looked like the match was headed for overtime after the hosts scored the tying goal earlier in the 85th minute. Matt Allen (Batavia HS, Batavia, Ill.) got loose after a defensive miscue by Knox. Keeper Joao Freire made the save on Allen's shot, but Joaquin Sunhawk Miranda Durling-Jones (Gillespie HS, Cabimas, Venezuela) followed up to level the score at 1-1. Allen was credited with an assist on the play.

Unfortunately, it took just 20 seconds for the Prairie Fire to answer. Michal Pavlik launched a beautiful cross from the right side that found a racing Adefioye on the back side. Adefioye finished off the play to give his team a 2-1 advantage.

The Knox defense prevented Augustana from getting off a shot the rest of the way, preserving the win.

The visitors had an 8-6 edge in shot attempts during a scoreless first half. Each side put two shots on frame, with Freire and Viking Jeremy Klaber (Stevenson HS, Buffalo Grove, Ill.) each logging a pair of saves.

The Prairie Fire grabbed the lead in the 57th minute on an unassisted goal by Jun Min.

For the match, Knox put six of 17 shots on goal to five of 10 for Augustana. The Prairie Fire had a 5-2 advantage in corners and were called for 18 fouls to 12 for their hosts. Knox received all three cautions issued.

Each keeper recorded four saves on the evening.

Coach Mick Regan's squad is back in action on Saturday, September 28, taking on 18th-ranked North Park in Chicago, Illinois. That match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
