CARTHAGE 6, AUGUSTANA 3
Alexandra Millett's two run double in the top of the second put the Lady Reds on top against
Kelcie Fredrickson (Fisher HS, Foosland, Ill.) in the opener. They added a run in the third when Naomi Alonzo led off with a double and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
In the bottom of the third,
Dina Falk (Lake Park HS, Bloomingdale, Ill.) reached on a two-out bunt single and scored on Wilson's seventh homer of the season.
Carthage extended its advantage to 6-2 with three in the fourth. Courtney Polanksi led off with a homer and Donna Stevens added a two-run blast later.
Smith came out of the Viking pen and shut the Lady Reds out over the final 3 1/3 innings, but Augustana could manage just one more run, an unearned tally in the sixth. Smith reached on an error leading off and

Fredrickson went 3 2/3 innings and suffered the loss, falling to 6-6 on the year. Smith gave up just one hit and a walk. Stefanie Guercio went the distance for Carthage. She allowed five hits and walked two while fanning nine to earn her 11th win in 14 decisions this year.
AUGUSTANA 4, CARTHAGE 2
After the Vikings left two runners on in the top of the first in the nightcap, the Lady Reds got to
Cecelia Peine (Holt HS, Wentzville, Mo.) for two runs in the bottom half. Millett led off with a double and Alonzo singled with one out. Brooke Sefcik's two-out, two-run single scored them both.
Augustana took the lead with three runs in the top of the third. Falk was hit by an Ellie Bernero pitch leading off and moved to second on
Taylor Belo's (Jacobs HS, Algonquin, Ill.) sacrifice. Wilson plated Falk with a double down the left field line and Smith followed with a single. Klahn's RBI fielder's choice scored Wilson to tie the game and senior
Haley Ruch (Lincoln-Way North HS, Frankfort, Ill.) singled in Klahn with the go-ahead run.
The Vikings gave Smith, who had come on to start the fourth, an insurance run in the sixth.
Clare Kramer (Prophetstown HS, Lyndon, Ill.) led off with a double and later scored on a bases-loaded walk to Wilson.
Smith pitched around a leadoff single in the bottom of the seventh to close things out. She allowed three hits, walked none and fanned four in a four-inning relief stint. She was awarded the win to move to 3-4 on the year. Bernero (1-3) went three innings and took the loss.
Wilson finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and two driven in.
