Senior Carla Bennett collected a school-
record 12 ground balls and came within
one of the school record with six caused
turnovers Wednesday in Augustana's
13-2 win at Dubuque.

The visitors led 7-0 before the game was 10 minutes old.

Senior Emily Lucnik (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) opened the scoring off an assist from classmate Bailey Aasen (Park HS, Cottage Grove, Minn.) at 28:06 of the first half. Freshman Sydney Rector (Fishers HS, Fishers, Ind.) parlayed an assist from classmate Kathryn Hettiger (Carmel HS, Carmel, Ind.) into a goal that made it 2-0 and then assisted on another Lucnik goal and Augustana led 3-0 barely three minutes in.

Aasen scored twice and senior Christina McCabe (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) and junior Lauren Amella (Whitney Young HS, Chicago, Ill.) once each to make it 7-0 with 20:33 left in the half.

Aasen added three more goals before halftime and freshman defender Cassie Kruse (Hinsdale Central HS, Clarendon Hills, Ill.) tallied her first of the year, as the Vikings took an 11-0 lead to intermission.

Carolyn Clemens got Dubuque on the board with 21:53 to play.

Amella scored off a McCabe assist with 15:49 remaining and Aasen scored her sixth goal of the contest at the 14:34 mark. Freshman Margaret Cecilio (Archbishop Mitty HS, San Jose, Calif.) assisted.

Spartan Sara Rose closed out the evening's scoring with 8:13 left.

In addition to Aasen's half-dozen, Lucnik and Amella each had two goals. McCabe and senior Carla Bennett (Marian Catholic HS, South Holland, Ill.) led the Vikings with two assists apiece. Bennett's big game included a school-record 12 ground balls and season highs of 11 draw controls and six caused turnovers—one shy of the program record.

Sophomore goalie Courtney Veitch (Lake Zurich HS, Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) stopped five Dubuque shots and got the win to improve to 5-9 on the year. Kaley Weir recorded 15 saves for the Spartans.

Next up for Augustana is a Saturday, April 20 contest at Carthage. First draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
