AUGUSTANA 11, ELMHURST 3

The Bluejays took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in the opener. With two outs, Fredrickson walked Rebekah Ondracek and Alyssa Ressinger followed with an RBI double to right center.

It didn't take long for Augustana to respond. Freshman Ashley Dehmlow (McHenry West HS, Spring Grove, Ill.) led off the top of the second with a double and two outs later Kramer, playing in just her fourth game of the season, homered to center to put the Vikings up 2-1.

A leadoff walk to Taylor Belo (Jacobs HS, Algonquin, Ill.) led to three Augustana runs in the third. Alyssa Klahn (Lincoln-Way Central HS, New Lenox, Ill.) finished off the frame, singling in Carly Wilson (Johnsburg HS, Ringwood, Ill.).

The visitors added a run in the fourth on Dina Falk's (Lake Park HS, Bloomingdale, Ill.) RBI double.

After Elmhurst got to freshman Erin Smith (Columbine HS, Highlands Ranch, Colo.) for two runs in the fourth, the Vikings answered with five in the top of the fifth. Smith led off with a double and Belo delivered a two-run single later in the frame.

Falk finished 2-for-4. Dehmlow and Tristan Bautista (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.) each scored twice and Belo and Kramer knocked in two apiece. Frederickson (5-5) went the first three innings, giving up just one hit and one run. Bluejay starter Bailee Krantz (2-4) took the loss.

AUGUSTANA 11, ELMHURST 10

Augustana trailed 10-9 going to the bottom of the sixth in the nightcap, but Falk drew a one-out walk from Sydni Gizynski. Wilson reached on a fielder's choice that didn't yield an out and Smith banged a two-run double to left center to put the Vikings up 11-10. Fredrickson, who came on in the fifth, pitched around a one-out single in the top of the seventh to close things out.

Augustana jumped in front 4-0 after three innings. Kramer had an RBI single and Marissa Catalano (Lake Park HS, Medinah, Ill.) squeezed in a run in the second and Klahn had a two-run single in the third.

The next two innings saw three lead changes, as the Bluejays put up five runs each in the fourth and fifth and the Vikings answered with three and two, respectively, in the bottom halves. Ellie Bruan had a pair of two runs singles for Elmhurst and Molly Wrenn's (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) two-run single in the fifth pulled Augustana to within 10-9.

Kramer went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored twice. Belo went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Klahn 2-for-4 with two RBI. Wrenn and Smith each drove in a pair and Falk scored three times.

Fredrickson (6-5) followed starter Cecelia Peine (Holt HS, Wentzville, Mo.) and Dehmlow in the circle. She finished up with 2 1/3 scoreless innings to earn her second win of the day. Gizynski suffered the loss, falling to 0-8 on the year.
