ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Travis Hastings (Englewood HS, Littleton, Colo.),
Lee Whorwell (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) and
Matthew Lampasona (Oak Forest HS, Oak Forest, Ill.) each scored three goals Saturday as Augustana cruised to a 14-1 win over Monmouth at Thorson-Lucken Field. Coach
Dan Torie's club improved to 5-5 on the season, while the Scots dropped to 2-6.

at Thorson-Lucken Field.
Trever Moore's (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) unassisted goal two minutes in got the Vikings on the board, but Monmouth's Chase Cranford answered 2½ minutes later to tie it at 1-1. The hosts regained the lead at 5:18 of the first quarter when Lampasona scored off a Whorwell assist. That's the way the period would end, although Lampasona's goal was the first of 13 straight that Augustana would score.
Hastings, Lampasona and Whorwell each scored in the first 3½ minutes of the second quarter and Lampasona registered his third tally of the game midway through the period to send the teams to the halftime break with the Vikings leading 6-1.

Shane Forsythe (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) and Whorwell each scored twice in the second half and Moore and
William Reece (Hudson HS, Hudson, Wis.) added goals as well, as the Vikings stretched the final margin to 14-1.
Lampasona and Whorwell each had two assists on the day to finish with five points. Reigning CCIW Defensive Player of the Week
John Calabrese (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) had another big day, winning 14 of 18 faceoffs and leading the Vikings with 12 ground balls.
Tommy Angelos (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) played 51 minutes in goal and recorded five saves to get the win and improve to 3-1 on the season. His Monmouth counterpart, Grant Miller stopped 15 Augustana shots in 57 minutes of action.
The Vikings held advantages of 53-16 in shots, 29-9 in shots on goal and 53-28 in ground balls. They were also successful on 19 of 21 clear attempts and committed 24 turnovers to 33 for the Scots.
Augustana kicks off the CCIW schedule on Wednesday, April 3, hosting Dubuque at Thorson-Lucken Field at 4:00 p.m.
