make a paly in Augustana's 1-0 loss to Coe Tuesday at Thorson-
Lucken Field.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Coe's Brylee Bastian scored the only goal of the match in the 13th minute Tuesday, lifting the Kohawks to a 1-0 win over Augustana at Thorson-Lucken Field. The loss was the first of the year for Coach Scott Mejia's squad, now 4-1 on the season. Coe improved to 2-2-1 on the year.

The visitors were the aggressors early and it paid off 12 minutes in. Kohawk Sydney Schroder played a corner from the right side short to Morgan Petsche and Petsche's cross found its way through the Viking defense. Bastian collected it on the weak side and put her shot just inside the left post to give Coe the lead.

Augustana increased the pressure as the half went along, but could never convert. Coe keeper Kacey Baker smothered a point blank attempt by Anna Fank (Wheaton Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.) in the 23rd minute and in the 24th, junior Lauren Muzzalupo (St. Charles North HS, St. Charles, Ill.) had her attempt carom off the left post.

In minute 34, sophomore Jenna Dvorak (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) got her head on an Abby Wendell (Hersey HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) corner, but Baker was there for the save again. The Vikings went to halftime trailing despite outshooting their guests 5-3.

The hosts kept up the pressure in the second half, but couldn't take advantage of some promising scoring opportunities. Muzzalupo had her point blank attempt go wide in the 64th minute and Dvorak's shot from close range in the 69th minute sailed high. Augustana's last gasp came in the 89th minute, when sophomore Grace Sigler's (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) header off a corner was also high.

The Vikings outshot the Kohawks 11-4, including 6-1 in the second half. Baker was credited with four saves, while Augustana sophomore Sydney Ion (Aquinas HS, La Crosse, Wis.) made two. The hosts had a 6-2 edge in corners and Coe committed five fouls to four for the Vikings.

Mejia's crew will try and bounce back on Friday, September 14, when it travels to Appleton, Wisconsin to take on Lawrence, coached by former Augustana Assistant Coach Joe Sagar. That match is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start.
