Zoran Grabovac started his volleyball career in Serbia, where he played for O.K. Vojvodina, one of the most distinguished clubs in Serbia. His team took second place at the national high school championships.
After moving to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1998, Grabovac played as a middle at Ball State from 2001-06. In 2002, Ball State advanced to the Final Four at Penn State before falling to Pepperdine in a semifinal match. Grabovac led the MIVA conference in hitting percentage, was selected to the All-Conference team, and held various season and individual game records throughout his collegiate career.
After earning a B.A. in International Business and an MBA, Grabovac has coached various clubs in Des Moines and the Quad Cities. He continued to play after college, competing on Open and AA Division teams that won a USA Volleyball Open Championship in 2009. The same year Grabovac was a first-team All-Tournament selection. He also transitioned to beach volleyball during the summer and played actively on the pro AVP tour.
Grabovac hopes to continue the great tradition of Ball State coaches who went on to coach at USC, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and many other universities nationwide.
Zoran and his wife, Leah, reside in Coal Valley, Illinois with their two children, Luka and Zander.Â
