Alex Washington, a member of three consecutive College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championships during his Augustana playing days, joined the Augustana men’s basketball staff prior to the 2013-14 season.
Alex returns to Augustana from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. While serving as an assistant men’s basketball coach at the NCAA Division II institution from 2010-13, he earned his master’s degree in Organizational and Sports Management before becoming an admissions representative for the college.
A 2009 Augustana graduate, Washington was a member of Viking squads that achieved the CCIW’s first outright “three-peat” in 28 years, from 2005-06 to 2007-08. He averaged 10.3 points per game for Giovanine’s 2007-08 club which won CCIW regular season and tournament championships.
Washington is a 2005 graduate of Wheeling High School in Wheeling, Illinois, where he was a two-time All-Mid Suburban League selection and the conference’s Player of the Year in 2004.
