Matt Shepherd is the Vikings' wide receivers coach. Shepherd was added to the Augie coaching staff prior to the 2020 season after a unique playing experience.
Shepherd began his football career at Leesburg High School in Leesburg, Fla. He was a first-team all-area selection during his prep career. Following his high school graduation, Shepherd attended Monmouth College where he was a four-time all-conference selection, 2011 pre-season and post-season All-American, all-regional selection, team MVP, and a participant in the D3 Senior Classic and All-American Bowl. Matt also earned a degree in Business Administration while at Monmouth.
Shepherd played professionally overseas for multiple clubs. First, he competed for the Kouvola Indians of Finland's second division. Shepherd then moved on to the Marburg Mercenaries of the German football league. He served as both a player and coach during his European career. In 2018, Shepherd returned to the U.S. to compete for the Quad City Steamwheelers of the Indoor Football League.
