Clay Emmrich joined the Augustana football staff in June of 2015 and will work as a defensive assistant. A 2014 graduate of Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa with a degree in fitness management, Emmrich was a varsity baseball player for the Knights.

A native of Plainfield, Illinois, Emmrich was a standout athlete at Marist Catholic High School in Chicago, Illinois before heading to Wartburg. He coached at St. Xavier University, working with the defensive backs in the spring of 2015. He also worked at Nashua-Plainfield High School in Nashua, Iowa from July of 2015 until joining the St. Xavier staff. While at Nashua-Plainfield his duties included being an assistant coach in football and being the head baseball coach. He also helped run the school’s strength and conditioning program and worked as an intern in the athletic director’s office.
