Justin Hauer

Justin Hauer joined the Vikings for the 2017 season after two seasons as the pitching coach at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois. He also served as an assistant coach at Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois for one year and as an undergraduate assistant at his alma mater, Illinois State University, in 2013.
 
During Hauer’s two seasons at Heartland, the Hawks posted an impressive 89-28 record. His hurlers recorded an earned run average of 2.93 and fanned a total of 807 batters in 828 innings. Black Hawk went 31-21 in Hauer’s single season as a Braves assistant.
 
A graduate of Alleman Catholic High School in Rock Island, Illinois, Hauer earned an associate’s degree in general education from Black Hawk before moving on to Illinois State, where he graduated with his bachelor’s in kinesiology.
 
Hauer enjoyed an outstanding collegiate playing career. In two seasons at Black Hawk, he compiled a 12-2 record on the mound with an ERA of 2.78. He went 9-1 as a sophomore, when he also batted .367 as an infielder. At Illinois State, he twice earned All-Missouri Valley honorable mention, making a total of 63 appearances for the Redbirds in two years. He posted a 6-1 record with an ERA of 2.26 and fanned 75 batters in 71 2/3 innings.
