ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - CCIW play began on Saturday for Augustana College men's soccer (3-1-3, 0-0-1) as they welcomed Carroll University (2-6-1, 0-0-1) to Rock Island. In a heated matchup, with eight total cards being issued, the dueling teams found no goals across 90 minutes to draw 0-0.

How It Happened
First Half
Augustana started the game with a pair of shots in the first eight minutes, with Karubas seeing his shot saved. Donaghey then had a pair of shots at 13:41 and 19:45, with his latter shot also being saved.
After Carroll sent their first shot of the game over the net at 26:48 and Karubas missed a shot, the Pioneers finally forced Banke into action when he made his first save at 41:32. Less than a minute after Banke's save, the Carroll keeper made another stop on an attempt from K'Otieno.
K'Otieno's shot was the final one of the first half, sending the teams into the break tied 0-0.
Second Half
Both squads missed the net with a shot in the opening five minutes of the back half, and Carroll continued with the next four shot attempts, three of which missed the net and one of which Banke made the save on. After another missed shot from both teams, Banke made back-to-back saves at 73:25 and 75:11. He made a third straight stop a minute later at 76:09.
At 77:27, Augie came inches away from taking the lead when Wise's shot on goal banged off the crossbar. Scupham's follow-up attempt on the rebound then missed top right. The Pioneers would have the final shot on goal at 84:14, but Banke stood tall once more to keep Carroll off the board and seal the 0-0 tie.
