Box Score ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team opened its season at home on Tuesday, where they drew even with the Marian Sabres by a score of 0-0.

The Vikings and Sabres played a tightly contested opening half, entering halftime scoreless. Sara Schinker turned away all three shots on target from Marian to keep the match even.

Augustana continued to apply pressure in the second half, recording two shots on goal, but Marian held them to preserve the shutout. Neither team was able to find the breakthrough as the match remained scoreless through the final whistle.

Marian held an 11-6 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in shots on goal. Schinker finished the night with three saves and a clean sheet in goal for Augustana.

The Vikings' six shots came from six different players, with Skylar Swanson and Jorydn Swanson each attempting two shots.

Augustana begins the season with a 0-0-1 record and will be back in action Friday with a road matchup against Buena Vista.
