ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's volleyball team battled against some of the best teams in the nation during their 2026 campaign, while collecting several individual honors on the year.
The Vikings opened the season with a pair of road matches before returning home for a stretch that helped define the first half of the year. Augustana won five of its next six contests, including victories over Edgewood, MSOE, Benedictine, and Marian. The highlight of the early season came on February 20 when the Vikings defeated North Central 3-1 to begin conference play 1-0, allowing Augustana to improve to 6-3 overall.
Following another win over St. Ambrose, the Vikings entered the heart of conference play. Augustana earned a road sweep of North Park and later added a victory over Clarke before facing a challenging stretch against several of the league's top teams. The Vikings battled Illinois Wesleyan to five sets on the road and closed the season on a high note with a sweep of North Park on Senior Day.
Statistically, Augustana proved to be one of the most balanced teams in the conference. The Vikings finished the season with a .209 attack percentage while holding opponents to a nearly identical .208 mark. Augustana also narrowly outpaced opponents in total kills, 959-943, while matching opponents with 935 digs. The team's 873 assists were directed primarily by sophomore setter Colin Schaefer, who dished out 782 assists and averaged 9.65 assists per set.
Offensively, Aidan Bolen once again led the Vikings with 206 kills and 2.99 kills per set. Cole Clarke added 193 kills while Tom Lamb, Alexander Sulewski, and Ryan Huntington each surpassed 140 kills on the season. Lamb delivered one of the most efficient campaigns in the conference, recording a .379 hitting percentage, ranking fourth in the CCIW.
Defensively, Colin Alvers led the Vikings with 212 digs while Schaefer added 167. At the net, Lamb anchored Augustana's blocking effort with a team-best 48 total blocks, while Sulewski finished just behind with 47.5. Clarke also contributed 45 blocks as the Vikings averaged 1.79 blocks per set.
The Vikings finished the season with a 10-11 record, 3-7 in the CCIW.
Following the season, Lamb earned All-CCIW Second Team honors after leading the Vikings in hitting percentage and blocks. Senior Ryan Huntington was recognized with the CCIW RESPECT Award. Aiden Bolen was named to the CSC Academic All-District team.
